Alex Coghe

I am an Italian photojournalist currently based in Mexico. As a documentary photographer, my work in Mexico is focused on the documentation of human conditions in the barrios, popular neighborhoods of Mexico City and I am collaborating with some NGO in Oaxaca.

For me, photography is an important documentation tool, representing above all the opportunity for sociological and anthropological reflections. In all these years, especially when engaged in documenting social and humanitarian themes, I have been able to observe how photography can be a tool to raise awareness on certain issues that are often ignored or underestimated, and I am a direct witness of how certain photography can represent an opportunity for change and improvement of society.
