Street Food Photography: Shoot With Your Mind, Find With Your Belly!

Street food photography is a combination made in heaven. Two heavyweights of photography merged into one. But what if this street food hybrid is better? I mean instead of shooting vagrants (that’s a terrible phrase!) or shooting congested city corners, all you have to do for street-food photography is simply buy a food item — from a local, artisan shop of course — tidy it up a bit, add a splash of background color here, a garnish of light there, and voila, a perfectly good photo.

But is that better? Yes, I know arguing the case of inherent value is foolish, but this is just a whiffle of hot air meant to stir somebody’s (anybody’s?) pot. If you had to argue which is better, and had to mean what you say, ignoring that serious embarrassment you get when you’re arguing for argument sake and then suddenly realize you might be an incorrigible liar, what would you pick?

Which is better? Street photography or street-food photography? I promise I’ll comment you back.
