Future of Photography is Stronger than Ever | But the Future’s Not Here Yet

Here’s a little video to boost your morale. According to world famous Rolling Stone photographer Annie Leibovitz, the profession of photography is going nowhere (she’s one my favorites by the way). Though I must be honest, she does give a morbid reasoning for it.

She says we will always crave the still photo because when tragedy strikes that’s how we want to remember the event, and I agree with her. But let’s imagine a world 50 years from now. Here are your still photographs, but now there are these interactive 3D holograms that float from whatever screen you’re holding or watching (think Harry Potter and his newspaper). Which would you want more?

Will still photography maintain enough cultural cache?  I mean just recently the Chicago Sun-Times laid off all its staff. What will the future hold?
